Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (DV)

Sullia, May 9: A 66-year-old woman who had a harrowing experience of walking 17 km to buy medicines during the lockdown last year, passed away on Sunday May 9.

Gangamma (66) from Gadikallu, near Kollamogaru to Guttigaru in Sullia breathed her last due to health complications.

In April 2020 when lockdown was first imposed due to the spread of coronavirus, Gangamma had walked 17 km to purchase medicines for her neurological problem. On her way back, she suffered exhaustion from walking and sat under a tree to rest. A gram panchayat team that was on Covid assistance duty noticed her and arranged an autorickshaw to drop her back to her village.

It is said that for the past six months she was suffering from health complications.

She is survived by her husband and two sons.
