Bengaluru, May 8: Give India Foundation has handed over the first batch of 80 oxygen concentrators to the GKVK Covid Care Centre in Bengaluru out of the 2,000 promised by it to Karnataka.
“These 80 oxygen concentrators of each 10 litres capacity will be installed in GKVK Covid Care Centre and this would certainly help to augment the care being given in the Covid Care Centre,’’ Deputy Chief Minister and State Covid Task Force Head Dr C N Ashwatha Narayana said in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Infected patients at the GKVK Covid Care Centre can undergo treatment without having to panic about the non-availability or shortage of oxygen, he said.
Speaking to reporters Dr Narayana said a 250 bedded COVID Hospital will be set up in Yalahanka region immediately by the Boeing Company and the work has already been initiated.
Boeing Company is also willing to set up another 250 bedded COVID hospital in the same region, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister thanked Give India Foundation for donating oxygen concentrators.
He also the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for negotiating with Boeing with regard to establishing Covid Hospitals near Yalahanka.
BDA Chairman S R Vishwanth, Karnataka Handicraft Development Board Chairman Dr Beluru Raghavendra Shetty, CEO of Give India Atul Sateja and CSR advisor to the State Government K V Mahesh were present.
