Udupi, Aug 11: Manipal University (MU) on Monday August 9 started a Masters programme with an international flavour. The Masters in European Studies and Management (MESM) is a unique programme and for the management part of the course, MU has tied up with T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), which is among the best in the country.
While inaugurating the programme being offered by the Manipal Centre of European Studies and Management (MCES), Dr G K Prabhu, registrar of MU, said the University has always believed in offering innovative programmes and thus encourages new courses like this. “The University provides all infrastructure and nurtures new programmes”, he added.
In his address, professor of geopolitics M D Nalapat, also an academic senate member of Manipal University said, “India and European Union have had a strong civilizational and historical association; it was for most of the times, beneficial only to one of the partners. Now, the time has come to focus on a mutually beneficial co-operation between the two regions for a win-win situation and advised the students of MESM to focus on this good-for-all approach”.
Director of TAPMI, Dr Saji Gopinath said that the coming together of TAPMI and Manipal University has always proved fruitful and he was optimistic about the MESM venture as well.
Students of MESM, MS Geopolitics, and International Relations were welcomed on the occasion by Dr Prabhu. The department of Geopolitics and International Relations also started its MS programme
Dr Neeta Inamdar, head of MCES, welcomed the gathering and Prof Chowdari Prasad of TAPMI proposed the vote of thanks.
