Karnataka reports 48,781 fresh corona cases, deaths jump by 592 in a single day

Bengaluru, May 7: The state on Friday, May 7 continued to register a spike in the number of fresh coronavirus cases.

As per the health bulletin released by the state health department, the positive cases in the state rose to 48,781. Bengaluru Urban alone reported a huge number of 21,376 cases on Friday alone.

As many as 592 deaths due to coronavirus were reported on Friday, with Bengaluru Urban recording 346 deaths and Ballari 24. With this, the toll so far has risen to 17,804.

Over 28,623 people were discharged from hospitals on Friday, taking the total recoveries so far to 12,84,420.

So far, Karnataka has seen 18,38,885 positive cases so far.

The total number of active cases in the state are 5,36,641.

The positivity rate for the day stands at 30.69%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 1.21%. A total of 1,58,902 samples were tested between Thursday and Friday.

As many as 1,03,16,686 people have received vaccination so far in Karnataka.
