Mangaluru, May 5: Former minister and MLA, U T Khader, has demanded white paper from the state government and the district administration about the oxygen situation in Dakshna Kannada district. He made this demand when speaking to media persons after visiting the Ayush department of the district Wenlock Hospital along with Congress leaders, and holding discussions with the hospital superintendent, Dr Sadashiva Shanbhogue and other officials on Tuesday May 4.
"Demand for oxygen has trebled as compared to the normal demand. The government should come out with a white paper about how much oxygen is necessary if all the ventilators and intensive care units of all the hospitals are put to full use and what is the current level of supply on a daily basis. It was being claimed that the state did not have oxygen shortage. If this is true, how did the Chamarajanagar hospital tragedy happened? Who is responsible? No one can bear such incidents of gory deaths," he said.
He also said that it has been decided to create separate Covid centre at Ullal community health centre by creating facility for oxygen and vaccinations there. He said that a sum of Rs 30 lac has been sanctioned for creating oxygen production facility.
He was accompanied by J R Lobo, Ivan D'Souza, district youth Congress immediate past president Mithun Rai, corporator A C Vinayaraj and T K Sudhir.
