Bengaluru, May 3: With hospitals across Karnataka gasping for oxygen and even Covid patients dying due to oxygen shortages, chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday held a meeting with the manufacturers and suppliers of oxygen to ensure that there were no problems in the supply.
The meeting attended by chief secretary P Ravi Kumar decided that the oxygen manufacturers and suppliers should ensure that the entire allocated quantities of oxygen to the state by the Centre must be ensured.
The meeting also directed the oxygen manufacturers and suppliers should take steps to reduce the time taken to re-fill the oxygen tankers and ensure that a green corridor for faster commuting of oxygen tankers was provided.
The state government decided to direct all the toll gates to avoid unnecessary delays besides asking the oxygen manufacturers and suppliers to convert nitrogen and argon tankers available for supplying oxygen.
It also directed to utilize the services of LPG tanker drivers in case of emergency.
The oxygen manufacturers and suppliers were directed to resolve the issues by approaching the concerned officer directly and ensure an uninterrupted supply of oxygen and make optimum utilization of available oxygen tankers.
