Panaji: Palanquin procession cancelled as Covid cases rise

Panaji, May 3: The weekly palanquin procession of goddess Shantadurga that used to be carried out every Monday evening, has been cancelled in view of rising Covid cases in Bicholim taluk, president of goddess Shantadurga Laxmi Narayan Math Mandir Devasthan, Atil Peth Bicholim, Gopal Morajkar informed.

Morajkar said that the palanquin procession will be next held on the eve of the annual 'New Monday' celebration in December.

He further said that the temple will be closed for devotees. The daily internal rituals of the temple will be performed by a priest until the Covid situation improves, Morajkar added.
