Bengaluru, May 2: Karnataka on Sunday May 2 recorded another sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases, adding 37,733 cases to its tally.
As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state rose to 4,21,436. Bengaluru Urban alone accounted for 21,199 cases in a single day.
As many as 217 deaths due to coronavirus were reported on Sunday, with Bengaluru Urban recording 64 deaths and Ballari 18. With this, the toll so far has risen to 16,011.
The state recorded 21,149 discharges from hospitals, taking the total recoveries so far to 11,64,398.
So far, Karnataka has seen 16,01,865 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
The positivity rate for the day stands at 23.82%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 0.57%.
As many as 98,05,229 people have received vaccination so far.
