Kasargod, May 2: The five constituencies of Kasargod have gone to CPM-led LDF and Congress-led UDF. The counting for the Kerala Assembly elections was held on Sunday May 2.

While UDF has retained Manjeshwar, UDF has continued its dominance in Kasargod. LDF has achieved success in Uduma, Kanhangad and Trikaripur.

UDF candidate A K M Ashraf, who was leading all through, defeated his BJP rival K Surendran by a small margin of 745 votes. LDF’s V V Rameshan had to be content with the third position.

K Surendran who had lost by a mere 89 votes against P B Abdul Razak in 2016 was in the fray again this time. BJP tried its best to win from Manjeshwar, but failed. UDF’s M C Kamaruddin had defeated BJP’s Kuntaru Ravish Tantri by 8,000 votes in the by-elections held in 2019 due to the death of P B Abdul Razak.

BJP Kerala state president K Surendran has lost both the constituencies from which he contested. Even in his defeat, he has set a record. In Manjeshwar in 2016, Surendran lost the constituency by 89 votes, but this time he lost the elections by 745 votes. Surendran had to be satisfy with the third position in Konni of Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, where LDF candidate Ginish emerged victorious and Congress secured second place. Surendran has to face defeat in Manjeshwar by a votes but in Konni he lost by a huge margin. The defeat of the BJP state president has upset the party workers.

Kasargod has gone once again to UDF. Muslim League’s N A Nellikunnu achieved a hat-trick by defeating BJP’s K Srikanth by a margin of 13,014 votes and entered the Assembly for the third time. Nellikunnu had won by about 8,000 votes in 2016. LDF’s M A Lathif came third.

Former Manjeshwar MLA C H Kunhambu has won in Uduma defeating his closest rival, Congress party's Balakrishna Periya by 9,286 votes. Therefore, LDF has retained the constituency again. BJP’s A Velayudhan obtained third spot.

State revenue minister E Chandrashekaran has won in Kanhangad. He defeated his Congress rival V V Sumesh. BJP candidate Balaraj had to be content by third spot. Chandrashekaran has won for the third time.

LDF’s M Rajagopal was victorious at Trikaripaur. He defeated the UDF candidate.

Kerala is literate ..and intelligent ..yet it has highest number of depression cases .. Keep dancing and singing ..Naresh Kerala .. and the Canada guy .. Dividing people in the name of religion is imported from western cults .. India is a great country based on timesless sanatan philosophy which can show light to itself and to others. It accepts other religions as way to god .. Can you say the same thing about your religion ?Ask this qtn deeply and sincerely .If you really change ..people will not vote for BJP

It is the left movement which recognised the 'Class' instead of the 'Caste' for the betterment of people and society..... BJP is just the inheritors if the above feudal mindset

Shetty you are a confused man. That's all your comment dictates. We all are human whether from west or east, brown or black, upper caste or lower caste, rich or poor. We are born naked and go naked leaving all our pride, arrogance, wealth religious labels etc. Be humble. When people are ignorant and dont understand their own beliefs they talk nonsense. Many today's world problems are taking place just because of political or religious lines. Please dont fall into those lines. Respect humans and do your best to help humans without bias.

For Kerala voters, their political ideology is more important than than the caliber of the candidates. Inspite of good literarcy, did not vote for the Metro man. What is the point of literacy? It is Congress's failure in capitalizing the worst governance of the left who are famous for political murders. This time left is able to retain the power inspite of their failure in many areas. People are happy with free kits.

What do you mean what is the point of literacy? Only if we vote for BJP that is literacy? We don't call it literacy, but stupidity.. And if you really want to know the importance of literacy, kindly spend some years in UP. They are sooo educated and voted for BJP..

Just because BJP's expectations have not been met, don't speak half truths.... Agree political ideology is dear to every Keralite.... But more than that they love their State, Language, pluralistic society, egalitarian mindset..... Candidates do matter..... That is why in Vadakara, wife of the slain RMP leader K K Rema won, which is an answer to CPM"s murder politics, Sitting Minister J Mercykutty who won last time with 30000+ margin lost because of her involvement in wrong Fisheries policy, P C George who won Poonjar for so many years lost even with BJP support, because he hurted women sentiments by taking the side of Bishop Franco in the nun rape case, Jose K Mani lost to Mani C Kappen because LDF ditched Mani C Kappen who won Kottayam bye election for LDF after 40 years, Sreyams Kumar owner of a leading daily and a very wealthy and influential person lost in Kalpetta as he did nothing for the constituency. People did accept LDF for their good governance, but wherever they have gone wrong people have given a befitting reply. People do value ideology but are not like Andhbhakt followers of BJP

Nither the Supreme Court Judgement on Sabarimala years ago or the misuse of Central Agencies by the BJP in the Gold Smuggling case has been of any use to the BJP in Kerala as the people of Kerala have seen through their attempts to gain a back door entry through such divisive and questionable means.

Until then dance that BJP lost ..It was not in power in the first place .. It has retained Assam and snatched puducherry .. Only place it lost is in TN ..that too its because of AIADMK which anyway is a useless party In W bengal it grew from 3 seats to 80 seats ..So be careful your celebration might be shortlived ..But please celebrate and be happy for whatever reasons that fits you

Pappu is a clean disciplined educated leader not required anyone to talk about. Only unpad idiots require publicity and drama in the name of religion or ideology or attacks on poors. It is a matter.of.time when people learn in a hardship to vote someone good and great. Time has come to choose a great leaders. People will.be fooled on time but many times is not.possible. singing your outdated song has no meaning.

Senseless..... Last elections BJP's vote share in Kerala was 14.98% which has come down to 11..... Vote share increase / decrease will always happen in an election for any party.... What is relevant is People have positively voted an incumbent Government with a higher number of seats.... This also means people have outrightly rejected BJP's allegations against LDF and seen through their games of trying to get into power by dividing people basis religion.... Worry about your BJP Kerala's Pappu K Surendran who not only lost both the places, but unable to retain the lone seat at Nemom. He was boasting of winning 35 seats with Vijaya Yatra flagged off by Yogi....Feel pity for Mr. Sreedharan who jumped on to the wrong bandwagon..... We will definitely celebrate, if it burns you buy Burnolfrom PM Jan Oushadi Kendra.... Old stock may be available at discounted rates
