Mangaluru, May 2: Though the Karnataka government on Saturday, May 1 relaxed the lockdown, permitting grocery shops and APMCs to function from 6 am to 12 noon, the police officials in the city seemed to be unaware of the government order.
On Sunday, May 2, police personnel were seen asking grocery shop owners and pushcart vendors to close down their business after 10 am.
The police officials who came in a vehicle asked vegetable vendors near Car street to shut take away their carts and stop selling after 10 am. Moreover, as there were no customers, pushcart vendors seemed disappointed.
Though there is provision to keep open the grocery shops till noon, several shops downed their shutters at around 10 am, probably as they were not aware of the new guidelines. In some places, however, grocery shop owners continued to remain open till noon.
