Udupi, May 2: Concerned about the swelling cases of coronavirus infection in the district, people are rushing to get themselves vaccinated against this dreaded disease.
Like on other days, people including senior citizens were seen queuing up in front of the district hospital here on Saturday May 1 for collecting tokens early in the morning. As the people did not know when the tokens were issued, they had started to stand in the queue from 6 am and the tokens were issued at 9 am.
In order to handle the crowd, the hospital has arranged to issue 200 tokens in the morning so that the people can approach the vaccination centre when their turn comes without having to wait.
However, taking cue from the experience of others that those who arrive first get the tokens and the latecomers have to go back empty handed, the people have been standing in the queue much before the centre opens.
As many as 30 people can have seats at the centre and others have to stand. It is said that in the queue for tokens, social distance rule is not followed. It is also gathered that drinking water is not available there and proper information is not being conveyed to the people.
