Bengaluru, May 1: Notwithstanding his ministerial colleague Dr K Sudhakar’s appeal to the people not to rush to the private and government vaccination centres in view of the shortages of the vaccine in Karnataka, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa symbolically launched the vaccination drive for the above 18 persons in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta, Bengaluru Central BJP MP P C Mohan and Shivajinagar MLA Rizwan Arshad were present during the launch of the vaccination drive by the Chief Minister at the Bowring Hospital in the city.
It may be recalled that Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar had asked the people not to rush to the government and private vaccination centres as the State Government did not have sufficient stocks of the vaccine against the Covid 19 pandemic for the people above 18 years to 44 years, which was scheduled to open from May 1 throughout the country as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement.
Apart from Karnataka, nine other States are facing shortages of the vaccine and have asked their people to visit the vaccination centres only after the Centre supplied the vaccines.
