Bantwal, May 1: MLA Rajesh Naik said that all arrangements are in place to construct an oxygen plant at taluk government hospital with the active participation of Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (MCF) in order to prevent shortage of oxygen in the taluk in the wake of increasing scare of coronavirus second wave.
Naik spoke to the media after inaugurating the blood donation camp organized by Bantwal BJP Yuva Morcha.
MLA Naik further said, "In Bantwal taluk hospital 25 oxygen beds are already made ready. Another 10 additional beds are being made ready. In the Vamadapadavu hospital out of the 30 beds, 12 are reserved for coronavirus patients. This will be increased to 20 and all beds will be supplied with oxygen.
"On Thursday more than 200 people in the taluk have turned positive for Covid. In the taluk hospital 15 Covid patients are being treated. Out of them five are in ICU and nine in general ward.
"All doctors, Asha workers and health personnel of the taluk are working with special concern to control the situation. BJP war room is also continuously working to serve the people.
"Two hostels at Vamadapadavu, one each at Kalladka and Vittal are converted as Covid treatment centers. In total 250 beds will be available in five hostels. Action will be taken to supply oxygen to all the beds.
"All above the age of 45 should take vaccine. Those who have already taken first dose of vaccine should take the second dose on time. All above the age of 18 should register themselves for vaccination. Vaccination will be done on priority basis.
"Public should cooperate with the administration in order to bring the coronavirus pandemic under control. All should wear mask and maintain social distance. During curfew hours no one should come out of the house without genuine reason. In emergencies, call the concerned and get the service,” he said.
Later Naik visited the Bantwal taluk hospital and inspected the land that is required to build the oxygen plant. Deepa Prabhu, DMO of the taluk, Devadas Shetty, BUDA president and Devappa Poojary, BJP president were present.
