Mangaluru, Apr 30: The police on Friday, April 30 raided Nisarga Bar & Restaurant near Talapady checkpoint at around 2 pm. In the raid 52 boxes of liquor worth Rs 1.53 lac was found stocked in a room without any valid bills.
The cashier of the bar identified as Charan (22) was present in the room. Upon questioning him, he revealed that the liquor was purchased from another wine store in the city. From Charan's revelations, the police also discovered that the bar has been hoarding liquor for the past three months and transporting it to neighbouring states like Kerala.
Further, the bar was violating the guidelines by the state government and selling liquor past the stipulated timings. They have also come in violation for storing more of a quantity of liquor than what is permitted.
A person named Divya Raj Shetty (38) is the license holder of the bar.
The police have arrested Charan and assigned a team to arrest Divya Raj and Rohit, the manager of the store where Charan bought the liquor from.
In the raid, the police seized, Boss Black & Gold Whisky (1,728 bottles of 180 ml); Bejois Whisky (36 bottles of 1 ltr); DSP Black (24 bottles of 750 ml); Boss Whisky (120 bottles of 750 ml).
A case under Section 32, 34, of the Excise Act, Section 5 of the Epidemic Act and Section 188, 269 of the IPC has been registered against the guilty.
