Bengaluru, Apr 29: In view of the increasing number of false-negative reports being witnessed in both RT-PCR & RAT testing methods, the state government has decided to follow a syndromic approach and issue patient numbers for hospitalisation and treatment of such cases based on the authorization of doctors, Dr K Sudhakr, health and family welfare minister, has said on Thursday.
After the recent surge of cases in the second wave, several instances have been reported where the laboratory test for Covid-19 is found negative even while the patient has Covid-19 symptoms or CT scan has detected infection.
The minister has made the announcement on social media too through his Twitter handle.

Since the rules mandate that infected persons should have a patient number issued by district authorities or BBMP to get admission to hospital, several patients whose report is negative have been facing the issues to get admission in hospitals.
Taking note of the issue, the state government has now decided to follow the syndromic approach and give patient numbers to such cases based on the authorisation of doctors.
"This will help Covid-19 infected persons to get timely admission and treatment, especially those who seek treatment in government hospitals and private hospitals through SAST reference,’’ he added.
