Bengaluru, Apr 29: A video conference meeting with all district in charge ministers, Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police of districts and Chief Executive Officers of Zilla Panchayats on the worsening Covid situation in Bengaluru and other parts of the State held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Thursday requested all ministers, including Chief Minister to donate salaries of one year and one month by all legislators towards Covid management in Karnataka.
The meeting directed all the Deputy Commissioners and heads of district administration to take up preventive measures to contain COVID 19 on priority and ensure strict implementation of Government guidelines, to ensure COVID appropriate behaviour and to take stringent action against violators.
Deputy Chief Ministers Dr C N Ashwath Narayan and Govind M Karjol, Home and Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Revenue Minister R Ashok, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar, Chief Secretary P Ravikumar, Chief Minister’s Additional Principal Secretary Dr E V Ramana Reddy and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
The Chief Minister asked DCs to set up COVID care centres on priority, wherever necessary, and said funds have already been released to DCs. He asked them to distribute medical kits to the COVID affected, who are in home isolation.
Teams are to be formed to monitor the health condition of patients in home isolation and at the same time steps to set up Task Forces in taluk and gram panchayat level to take care of infected people, the meeting decided.
Yediyurappa emphasized that testing should be focused on all symptomatic persons and the results must be given within 24 hours. All backlogs shall be cleared soon, he said.
Taking note of the problems regarding oxygen availability, the meeting asked the DCs to ensure timely oxygen supply to hospitals. All hospitals should conduct audit of oxygen and Remdesivir vials.
The Chief Minister directed the district administration to ensure judicious usage of oxygenated beds, ventilators and Remdesivir, which should be given only to the needy.
All the neighbouring districts are told to cooperate with each other in case the urgent requirement of oxygen arises, Yediyurappa said.
The DCs were told to take services of human resource from various departments to manage COVID 19.
The Chief Minister said the oxygen generating plant in Mysuru has 5 units out of which only 2 are functional. Therefore, the Mysuru DC was directed to take steps to repair the remaining 3 units at the earliest.
He also directed the district administration in the State to ensure uninterrupted and smooth agricultural and permitted industrial activities.
