Kadaba: Corona warrior imposes fine on daily wager, pays it himself

Daijiworld Media Network - Kadaba (SP)

Kadaba, Apr 29: A corona warrior deputed by Kadaba town panchayat, who imposed a fine on a daily wager at Kadaba for not wearing a mask, had to pay the fine on his own. This incident happened on Wednesday April 28.

A couple who worked as coolies on Wednesday, had returned to Kadaba and was waiting to catch a bus.

At that time, an officer of the local town panchayat deployed as a corona warrior, noticed that they were not wearing the mask. He issued a receipt for Rs 100 as fine.

The labourer, who pleaded with the warrior that he did not have any money, finally handed over ten rupees which he had, to the official. The official was therefore compelled to add Rs 90 of his own money to remit the fine of Rs 100 to the government.

On one end, government officials are slapping fine on people, who have lost jobs and do not have money in hand, even if the face mask is slightly slipped from the nose. On the other hand, it is seen that the officials are working under pressure and are cursed by the public.

Giving information on the subject, a panchayat official said, "We have to slap fine for people who do not wear mask. But we do not know that the public does not have money. If we think that will give receipt after the offending person pays, no one says that they have money with them. If we write the receipt and give, we have to face this situation."

Rita, Please remove your goggles tinted with religion. Reply for my comments and it should not be considering my name and religion. You do not know the situation in India. I had been trying for a ICU bed in Mangalore the day before yesterday. Do you believe not one is available? He got one room with oxygen supply, thank God his condition is stable now. The government is pleading everyone to wear masks. What is the difficulty is wearing a mask and keeping others safe? Masking, social distancing and inoculation are the only options to contain this pandemic. My opinion is same for the people crowding temples or mosques or churches.

Rita, Germany - It is really sad, poor people are getting fined. But Compromising on fines is very dangerous in the present situation. People will come up with excuses as everyone is having problems. Hopefully seeing/hearing about fines public will be more responsible towards wearing masks properly.

Lab Masks are available for Rs.8/- if you purchase in Bulk. This Corona Warrior could have carried Masks with him and after handing over he could have collected Rs.10/- instead of filling the challan amount from his pocket. Kindly don't penalize the daily wage workers as they are uneducated one

No humanity, no consideration for people who are not wearing masks. They are not fined for not protecting themselves, instead they are fined for endangering the lives of hundreds of people who they come in contact with. Who knows if they are carriers. Either fine them heavily or do some caning. It is the need of the our. People are losing lives!!!

@shankar, you may not understand the hard life that is faced by jobless and cooli workers. Many among us are ready to commit suicide or face death penalty too. Be practical more than just writing your comments. Life is not same to everyone.
