Mangaluru, Apr 29: Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, has urged the public and private concerns in the district to extend necessary assistance needed to provide treatment to coronavirus-infected people like setting up of oxygen producing units, providing oxygen cylinders and such other facilities that are critical in providing medical treatment.
He was speaking at a meeting on COVID regulation and treatment management at the office of the deputy commissioner of the district on Wednesday April 28.
Nalin alerted the concerned towards the possibility of an increase in the COVID-infected people in the district in the coming days. He called upon the district administration to preserve oxygen beds, and other facilities that are very much needed to provide affective treatment. He said that infection might increase because of visitors from other states and districts and therefore wanted them to be subjected to coronavirus tests without any exception.
He asked the district administration to make use of student hostels, government girls’ hostels, and schools to set up facilities to provide treatment to the COVID-affected people. He asked MRPL to set up 930 LPA capacity oxygen generating unit at Wenlock Hospital, MCF to install oxygen producing units at the employees state insurance hospital and Bantwal taluk hospitals, Gail India Ltd and GAIL Gas to install oxygen producing units at Puttur and Beltangady, KIOCL to set up similar units in Uppinangady and Moodbidri, Infosys to set up electric crematorium at Ullal, MSEZ to maintain ambulance service, NMPT to provide 20 dura cylinders, and BASF to provide 20 dura cylinders by way of assistance.
