No public transport amid lockdown: Video of Udupi bus driver vowing to never vote for BJP goes viral

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Apr 28: A video of a driver of a private bus stating his miserable conditions brought on by the lockdown has gone viral.

In the video, the bus driver can be heard slamming the state government for lockdown norms, which has banned the movement of public modes of transport. The driver deplored the fact of no longer having employment and that he would now have to earn his daily bread by becoming a labourer.

"Yediyurappa-government did not prove helpful to us at all. The people who have government jobs have nothing to worry about, whereas people like us will have to hunt for employment. Buses in huge number are now off the road. Those who work in this field have families to feed, where will they go now?" he lamented.

"The BJP government in the state is not efficient. I will not vote for this party again," he added.

As per sources, the driver works for a private bus company based in Kundapur, where the video was shot.

The lockdown that was enforced in the first wave of coronavirus had heavily affected the business of the transportation industry. At one point in time, the staff was sent on unpaid leaves due to the poor occupancy of buses amid the fear of infection. Even rising fuel cost and inadequate support from the state government had crippled public transport.

Congress has done a good job with a number of policies helping out the poor but one particular policy which Indira Gandhi brought out on Land reforms turned to be a draconian rule wherein unworthy people grabbed someone else's land. Land which was handed over by our ancestors ages ago.

Acche din promised were only on paper for publicity but the voters should have realised how worth it can be if the country where the wise learned people live and they elect a chaiwala/chowkidar to govern the country. The qualification matters in every field. The money has to be distributed equally into all fields for development. One alone can't enjoy. When the dictator doesn't even know what a family is ...which is a basic knowledge then how do we expect him to know the necessities of large countrymen.

Either it's BJP or Chediless opposition, if normal citizen's don't follow the safety measure, govt. cann't do much about it. First of all we should be responsible citizens of the country and not expect one head for the whole country to do wonders. Second point, do you think your one vote will it make any difference to BJP, while the whole 200 seats Bengal election is swiped off by by BJP under the nose of Iron Lady Mamta Banerjee? Think wisely and don't be another politician like Kader & Ramanathanna who only talk, but only worried about themselves and not worked for society and ZERO action. Jai Hind.

Covid deaths have passed 200000 and people dying on the streets for lack of oxygen and BJP is busy with .super spreader election rallies , no money left and economy has collapsed, highest number of unemployed. There is nothing left apart from false promises. Yet some people are happy to vote for them again and the one who are unhappy now will vote for them when election comes.

Yes, he is absolutely right. Epidemics /situations like this the Government must have some backup facility to support the needy people. The government has to give stimulus to the effected companies/working sectors. But the fact is the government has totally failed in this aspect. Because the government was busy with election campaigning, temple issues, cast issues, name changing issues, purchasing MP's issues............ Since 2020 March has this government thought of improving the medical facilities, any new hospitals?? any additional ICU beds???? any discussions of Covid- 2 nd wave . The need of the hour is we need educated leaders, that too young educated leaders. Why people are contributing to the Prime minister / Chief minister fund ??????. , when there is no open accountability. Please stop this and help the needy people directly.

The young man is very correct. This govt implements lockdown at the drop of a hat, without taking the general public in confidence. Lockdown is never a solution. These politicians, govt employees get their salary without break. They should think about the common man. How would he pay his loan, emi. Who is going to compensate. These politicians think of the common man only once in 5 yrs.
