Bengaluru, Apr 28: Deputy chief minister and higher education minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan have warned the deputy commissioners in charge of districts that they will be held responsible for any lapses in the Covid management in their respective districts.
Dr Narayan, who held a review of the Covid management situation in Ballari district from Bengaluru in the virtual mode on Wednesday, made it clear that the deputy commissioners were directly responsible for the management of the Covid situation in their respective districts.
He also took the Ballari district administration to task for the many shortcomings in the testing, tracing and treatment of the Covid patients in the district.
Ballari deputy commissioner Pavan Kumar Malapatti, superintendent of police and minister Anand Singh, who is also the district in-charge, participated in the review meeting.
The deputy chief minister felt the Covid testing was not done as per the expected standards and the results of the tests were also delayed. The longer the delay in providing the results, it will lead to worsening of the situation and was harmful, Dr Narayan said and asked his ministerial colleague Anand Singh to ensure that immediate corrective steps were taken.
Dr Narayan emphasized that the Covid situation should be controlled and never be allowed to beyond control. The test results must be provided within 24 hours of the testing samples were collected so that a decision on home isolation or hospitalization of the patients who tested positive could be taken. The patients must be immediately provided with the necessary medicines, he said.
The deputy chief minister also held discussions with the district health officer or other medical personnel on their problems.
