Mangaluru, Apr 27: Deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra assured that the district was having sufficient oxygen facility and beds in the district.

Addressing media here on Tuesday, April 27, Dr K V Rajendra said, "There are 4,032 active cases in the district among which 783 are hospitalized and 3,249 are in home isolation, 748 deaths have been recorded so far. There is no scarcity of beds or oxygen in the district. We are coming up with an app in the next two days where there will be detailed information about the beds available. Those who need beds can contact the central control room. We have vaccinations that will last for three days and the government has assured us to provide more vaccine stock."

"The guidelines have been issued for 14 days up till 6 am on May 12. Purchase of essentials are allowed from 6 am to 10 am. No form of transportation will be allowed to operate except flights and trains. Taxi, cabs are also restricted. Schools and colleges are not allowed to function and the students should not be forced to leave hostels. Hotels can only provide takeaway services. Inter-district travel is restricted, there should be a genuine reason to travel or the right document should be produced. Salons, beauty parlours are closed. Wedding programmes can only have 50 people while cremation or funerals can have only five people," the DC informed.

In order to facilitate the migrant workers, discussions with leaders of CREDAI was carried out, informed Dr K V Rajendra.

With regard to the Someshwara temple, Dr K V Rajendra said, "Assistant commissioner warned the temple authorities to not violate Covid norms. Earlier a case under the Epidemic Act was filed, but still, on April 26 a large number of people gathered. The temple management will be booked under various sections of IPC, the police will be also directed to file a charge sheet."

On the matter of travelling to get vaccinated during the curfew, Dr K V Rajendra said, "We will chalk out a micro plan so that people do not have to travel long distances to get vaccinated. Those who are keen to get shots from private hospitals can take appointment from the hospital. People will have to show proof of appointment at the checkpoints to travel. We have directed the hospital to issue appointments for vaccination. For emergency purposes, people can use a taxi or an auto-rickshaw."

    Good, please implement strict rules and regulations to control spreading COVID but make sure rules are equally applicable to every citizen irrespective of their status. It has been observed in the recent past that strict punishment is given to poor guys for violations but the rich and powerful are let off without punishment.

    by the announcement of foolish lock down everything has gone hay wire. The covid has already spread due to so many people migrating plus the brainless window of 6 am to 10 am everyday.. what can be expected of third rated bacchali party people who dont know abcd of administration?
