Mangaluru, Apr 26: The police personnel, who helped shifting a pregnant woman undergoing labour pain to the hospital in the police vehicle, were felicitate by the department on Monday April 26.
The police personnel are Mangaluru rural police station assistant sub inspector Harish K and constable Vijay Kumar.
Addressing media, police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said, “The pregnant woman was travelling from Guruvayanakere by an Alto car which developed problems and came to a halt at Arkula at 1:15 am on April 24. She was accompanied by her husband.
“The police personnel helped her reach AJ Hospital. The woman delivered a baby boy. Both the mother and baby are healthy.
“I appreciate both the staffs for their timely help. If they had not shown the concern and lent a helping hand, then both the mother and her child would be in trouble,” he said.

Mangaluru, Apr 26: In an incident that exemplifies the human side of the police, a pregnant woman undergoing labour pain was carried by them in the police vehicle to the hospital.
The incident took place on April 23 late night.
Shahida Babu (29), a woman from Guruvayanakere was undergoing labour. When she was being taken to A J Hospital Mangaluru by her husband Siddique, their vehicle developed problems at Arkula.
Mangaluru rural police station assistant sub inspector Harish K and constable Vijay Kumar V, who were there at Arkula check post that time, transported the woman in their vehicle to A J Hospital, and thus gave a glimpse of their kinder side.
The lady gave birth to a healthy male child on April 25, it is learnt.
This act of the police is getting lavish appreciation in the public circles.
