Bengaluru, Apr 25: Karnataka on Sunday April 25 recorded another sharp increase in the number of coronavirus cases, adding 34,804 cases to its tally.
As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state rose to 2,62,162. Bengaluru Urban alone reported 20,733 cases in a single day.
As many as 143 deaths due to coronavirus were reported on Sunday, with Bengaluru Urban recording 77 deaths and Ballari 16. With this, the toll so far has risen to 14,426.
The state recorded 6,982 discharges from hospitals, taking the total recoveries so far to 10,62,594.
So far, Karnataka has seen 13,39,201 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
Among the total active cases, 1,492 patients are currently admitted in ICUs across the state.
The positivity rate for the day stands at 19.70%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 0.41%. A total of 1,76,614 samples were tested between Saturday and Sunday.
As many as 86,61,038 people have received vaccination so far in the state.
