Bengaluru, Apr 25: Home minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday, April 25 declined to comment on the possibility of extending the weekend curfew.
Speaking to media persons at his residence, Bommai said, "For now, weekend curfew will be in force. I cannot speak on the rumours regarding extention of the curfew throughout the week."
Bommai said that no meeting has been held regarding extension of the curfew.
"The weekend curfew has been successful across the state. People have co-operated. This has helped to contain the spread of covid-19. But, at the government level, no discussion has been held regarding the extension of curfew throughout the week. This was not discussed in the meeting held with the chief minister on Saturday. The status quo will remain," he said.
"The union government has provided additional oxygen of 800 tonnes after our demand. This will reduce the pressure on the demand for oxygen. Whoever needs oxygen will get it," Bommai added.
He also said that the state government has a stock of 50,000 units of Remdesivir which will last until April 30. The union government has assured of providing 1.22 lac additional Remdesivir doses, he said.
"After May 1, everyone above 18 years of age will get vaccination. People who are above 45 years will be given the second dose. All precautionary measures have been taken so that there will be no shortage of vaccines," Bommai said.
