Karnataka to adopt UK model to beat raging Covid-19

Bengaluru, Apr 24 (IANS): The Karnataka health minister on Saturday said that the state government will be adopting tough measures on the lines of the steps taken by the United Kingdom to contain the spread of the second wave of the coronavirus in that country in December 2020.

The minister issued a stern warning to private hospital owners and government doctors not to succumb to any pressure and admit only those patients whose oxygen saturation level falls below 90 per cent. "We are issuing a circular in this regard that only patients below 90 per cent of oxygen saturation level be given beds," he said.

Health Minister Sudhakar said that the UK's tough measures included allotment of hospital beds only to those patients whose oxygen saturation level fell below 90 per cent when the second wave of Covid had swept that country in December 2020.

"Initially, when the second wave swept across the UK, many people got admitted to hospitals using influence. In India too, 'influence' does play a vital role, here (Karnataka) too in some cases even in government hospitals, beds are occupied by asymptomatic patients or mild-symptomatic patients and as a result of this there is a shortage of beds," he said.

He appealed to the people not to seek beds after mild symptoms. He also requested fellow politicians' friends to stop using influence to admit a patient.

The minister pointed out that during the first phase of the second wave in the UK too many lives were lost due to beds being occupied by mildly symptomatic patients. However, they realised their mistake very soon and rectified it immediately by making it mandatory that admission into hospitals will only be for those whose oxygen level has fallen below 90 percent. "We need such stringent measures here too and only then the number of fatalities can be minimised," he asserted.

UK had several other strict measures for physical distancing . This was done strictly to the extent that people were asked not to visit their friends/ relatives . Simply issuing one circular does not make this a "UK model"

UK never admits patients on influence in National health Service. UK didn't allowed patient next of kin in Covid wards or any other department. Strictly followed social distancing and proper PPE. Country was on National lockdown. No Kumb mela or election rally happened followed strict rules. In UK furlough system provided during Lockdown by Government, can India's Government provide furlough system to daily wages workers. If you want to follow UK model do this, Wear mask, social distancing, furlough system to daily wager National lockdown or state lockdown and complete Vaccination

I thought we have ourselves some model!! the govt authorities usually wait for the disaster to become panic crisis and then only starts action. For they will not get any credit if prevention action done before the crisis. More the hue & cry of the public suffering, more the advantage. They know it if prevention action done then all goes in vain.

Stop telling lies now at least. There was no influence in the UK foe hospital admission. UK had one national protocol and everyone followed it. It’s still not too late. Lock the country or the state. Don’t put economy front of human life.

I suggest church halls, temple halls, mosque premises should be handed over to administration as preliminary quarantine centres with fever clinics and bed procured with help of large companies. Only from there the patients should be sent to hospitals if there is a real need.

AD, I entirely agree with you. But the present problem is not only with beds, but also with resources like medicine and oxygen. Soo, another problem will arise, medical staffs. How long hours they can effectively keep working? There is news of death of medical professionals as well? Do we have enough medical staff to effectively manage those make shift ICUs?

First and foremost stop all political rallies in public. That is the big cause of the spread. Politician are responsible to most the spread due to massive rallies all part of the country. First ban all political parties asap for any rallies and open discussions in public. Most of the problems will be solved. Then ban religious gatherings for a month. Ask everyone pray from home . Third stop alchohol sale for a month. Then covid automatically comes to control. Then slowly open religious gather with 50 limit with social distancing with sanitizing.

He is presenting his one more inability of bad administration by borrowing the example of UK for surge in cases in India. After this statement he will go into self isolation and people have to fend for themselves and if lucky they will survive. 90% oxygen saturation can be determined only after testing and if the patient is little higher in one test you will send him back with impending condition?????????..........

Finally using some brains! These RTPCR and cheap oxymeters are ruining medical infrastructure, staff with the hyped fear of the virus that Globalists and Big Pharma are using media to push their vaccines and looks like people are dying due fear of this normal flu or common cold. Global Stats says 97% Plus recovered with mild cases, that means it is not covid but normal seasonal 2021 flu but these high sensitive RTPCR tests detect them as Covid 19 as seaonal flu viruses also a family of corona viruses and only few percentages may be genuine Covid 19 or their mutants.

Open field hospitals and admit people their with asymptomatic and mild symptos. If SPO2 falls then shift to higher hospitals and provide multi-speciality care. People are putting pressure on medicos to put them on oxygen, just like some people earlier used to ask for drips. Unnatural Oxygen is poisonous to inhale, should be used with caution.
