UAE to have 40 Organic Farms by June 2011

Dubai, Aug 4 (IANS/WAM): The United Arab Emirates is planning to create another 23 organic farms by June 2011, raising their number in the country to 40.

"We will commence work in next September to transform 23 conventional farms into organic orchards by June 2011," an official at the ministry of environment and water said.

According to him, the ministry is intending to regulate marketing of locally produced or imported organic products in partnership with the private sector.
