Udupi, Apr 21: The people who have tested positive for the coronavirus infection should be identified immediately by large-scale testing. Once the corona-positive people are identified, treatment to prevent the spread of the virus should be done, said state home minister and district in-charge Basavaraj Bommai to the officials.
The number of daily tests which is at 3,000 at present should be increased to 4,000. Make sure that there is no scarcity of beds, he directed the officials.
Bommai further asked the DSP to ensure that people do not gather in large numbers. "Do not permit events that violate social distancing rule. Restrict religious celebrations and processions. Refer patients who need ICU treatment to private hospitals under Ayushman Bharat – Arogya Karnataka' (ABARK) scheme," he said.
"People from Mumbai and Kerala are arriving in the district. Conduct swab tests for all these people. Remidisivir and Covid vaccines will be supplied in the district. Make sure that there is no scarcity of oxygen," the minister said.
He also asked the authorities to ensure that fishing activities were not hindered.
Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh explained the actions carried out by the administration to control the second wave. He informed the minister that tests would be increased and that private hospitals have been already asked to reserve beds for coronavirus patients.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji Mendon, Coastal Development Authority president, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, district panchayat CEO, Dr Navin Bhat, SP Vishnuvardhan, additional DC, Sadashiva Prabhu, Kundapur sub-divisional officer, Raju, DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda and other department officials were present in the meeting.
