Bengaluru, Apr 21: "Public has to mandatorily follow the Covid guidelines given by the state government in order to control the second wave of coronavirus pandemic. If this is followed strictly, it is possible to break the Covid chain of infection within 14 days," opined Dr Sudhakar, health minister.
Dr Sudhakar also said that these guidelines are framed after a thorough study on a scientific basis by the experts. So people have to follow them seriously.
The minister further said, "The scale of infection will reduce within three to four days if the new guidelines are followed strictly. There is no need for people to get scared. There is no need for everyone, who gets infected, to get admitted to the hospital. I will give details about who should get admitted to the hospital and who should not on the evening of Wednesday, April 21.
"We will further strengthen the medical facilities of the state within 14 days. We will increase the availability of Remdisivir, ICU beds and oxygen cylinders. We will give attention to the treatment of actively infected patients," he said.
"In Bengaluru, where the ill-effect of coronavirus is more, ministers in charge have assumed responsibility in eight zones. They will manage the situation of providing beds in private hospitals to Covid patients. They will get the non-Covid patients discharged and increase the beds for Covid patients. Further, eight burial sites are identified for the cremation of mortal remains of those who die from Covid," Sudhakar informed.
"On Wednesday, April 21 there will be a meeting with the state revenue minister and home minister. In addition, meetings will be held with the DCs of five districts where the infection is more. I will visit all the seven districts where the infection is more. I will be visiting Mysuru on Thursday," he added.
"We have received 23,000 vials of Remdisivir that are required for the treatment of Covid patients. Out of this 10,000 have been given to the government hospitals, while the private hospitals have received 13,000. Only 10,000 Remidisivir injections are given to other states."
On Tuesday, April 20, more than 20,000 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in Karnataka. This is the first time that so many new cases are detected in one day. The infection rate has skyrocketed in Bengaluru with 13,000 new cases in a single day. In the wake of this development, discussions were held to tackle the situation under the leadership of the governor in which all political party members participated. Accordingly, the state government has announced new Covid guidelines for the next 14 days. This includes an extension of night curfew and weekend curfew.
