Mangaluru, Apr 19: The state government should pay special attention and chalk out special measures for Mangaluru to control the Covid pandemic, said former minister Ramanath Rai.
Addressing media here on Monday April 19, Rai said, “Mangaluru is a major city in the state after Bengaluru. The second wave of Covid pandemic has hit the country and cases are rising every day. The state government should pay special attention and chalk out special measures for Mangaluru to control the pandemic here and call an all-party meeting. The district in-charge minister has not conducted any meeting with the officials regarding measures to be taken to face the pandemic. There is no proper coordination between the people’s representatives and officials which has led to confusion among public.
“Even during checking of vehicles, there is traffic congestion for kilometres. There is a need of taking stringent measures to control the pandemic without troubling common public. Tge government is not showing any concern towards the rising corona cases in the country but are showing all their concern on elections. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not attending election campaigns and that shows how a prime minister should be. Singh was a true nationalist,” he said.
Reacting to the statement made by BJP’s C T Ravi that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are not leaders and the real leaders are B S Yediyurappa and Narendra Modi, Rai said, “According to him, those who went to jail over corruption are leaders and those who went to jail for during the struggle for the nation’s independence, are not leaders. He is a person who is unaware of his genealogy.
“The state and central governments are corrupt. None of the promises made by the government have been fulfilled yet,” he said.
