Bantwal, Apr 19: A person who had sold his bullet bike, three months ago, received a fine of Rs 500 from the Mangaluru city traffic police.
Dharmendra Shetty, son of Vishwanatha Shetty, resident of Kanyana village of the taluk had sold his bullet bike to Shivaraj, son of Kolya Fakeera Poojary, resident of Kotekar on January 7, 2021. The ownership transfer was done officially also. However, Dharmendra was shocked when the traffic police sent him a notice for violation of no side mirror and not wearign helmet while riding the bike and asked him to pay Rs 500 in fine.
Dharmendra Shetty approached the Mangaluru traffic police station and said that he had sold the said bullet bike on January 7 and he is not liable to pay the fine.
"RTO has not changed the name of the new owner though three months are over since the ownership transfer is done officially. This is due to the inefficiency of the RTO department. Traffic police have slapped fine on me for the mistake that was committed by the RTO department," said Dharmendra Shetty.
