Veteran litterateur, artiste Dr Kasargod Ashok Kumar no more

Kasargod, Apr 18: Veteran litterateur, writer, actor, artiste and former bank employee Dr Kasargod Ashok Kumar passed away on Sunday April 18.

Sources said that he was suffering from Covid-19 from past three weeks and was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Dr Ashok was born in Kasargod on December 1, 1953. He was the elder brother of writer T K Kasargod (Tilak Kamath). He completed his higher primary education in Kasargod government school, high school education in BEM High School, and BSc from a government college in Kasargod. He later joined Syndicate Bank.

He was actively involved in acting, direction, and writing literary works. He had provided oppurtunity to several actors in cinema.

Dr Ashok Kumar has written eight works. He was awarded honorary doctorate for his social service and literary achievements. He also acted in short movies, telefilms, cinema, and advertisements. He has written songs for movies and albums as well.

It is said that for the past few years, Dr Ashok Kumar had settled in Mangaluru.

Dr Ashok leaves behind two children. His son is working as radio jockey for a private radio channel in Bengaluru.
