Mangaluru, Apr 16: In another embarrassment to the police department, the name of the woman police constable and her son who recently took part in the rave party that was held at a resort in Honkaravalli in Alur taluk of Hassan district is making rounds.
It is said that the woman head constable Shreelatha's son Athul was reportedly the one who organised the rave party. The head constable is attached to the Cyber Crime, Economic Offences and Narcotics police station in the city.
Acting on a tip-off, in the wee hours of Sunday April 12, the police team led by the Hassan district superintendent of police, Dr Srinivas Gowda and staff conducted a raid on the party and detained several youths. The attendees were from Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Udupi. The youths who took part in the rave party in the resort were in clear violation of Covid-19 guidelines.
As the news regarding the involvement of the woman head constable surfaced, the Mangaluru police commissioner sought a report on the allegations against the concerned head police constable from the SP of Hassan district.
Reportedly, as many as 134 young men and women took part in the party. Liquor bottles, hallucinogenic drugs like LSD, MDMA, and marijuana were seized from the party.
It is said that booking for the party was done online and the head constable's son was the organiser of the rave. Those who book get the location through a WhatsApp message. The people are later issued tags to ensure exclusivity. As parties are organized in remote areas or rural estates, the police generally do not get any information about them.
According to polices sources, the youths were intoxicated to an extent where they were not even aware of the raid. Many were found to be partially clad. Those detained reportedly had also pleaded with the police to let them go and not book them in the case.
