Bengaluru, Apr 16: Indicative of the worsening Covid situation in Karnataka, the state government has issued yet another order prohibiting all religious celebrations and congregations throughout the State till April 30 as part of the measures to contain the spread of the Covid virus.
Under the latest government order issued on Friday, wedding receptions will be subject to attendance by a maximum of 200 persons if the functions are held in the open grounds, space and 100 if held in Kalyana Mantapas, auditoriums, halls and such other covered places.
Birthday celebrations and such functions will be subject to attendance by 50 if held in open ground and 25 inside halls and covered spaces. Funerals and cremations can be attended by a maximum of 50 and 25 respectively while a maximum of 25 persons can be present during cremations and burials. All other functions will be subject to attendance by a maximum of 50 persons depending on the area of the covered place or halls.
Even for political meetings and functions held on open grounds, the maximum permissible attendance shall be 200.
In all such events, the Covid norms like compulsory wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing and sanitisation shall be followed, the government order says.
The latest series of restrictions shall be in force till April 30.
The state government has asked the BBMP authorities and police as well as district administrations such as deputy commissioners, superintendent of police and other authorities to take strict action to follow the norms and deal with the violators.
