Mangaluru, Apr 15: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Thursday April 15, urged the state government to fulfill the demands of land surveyors who are protesting against the government urging to fulfill their demands.
Speaking at a press meet here at Press Club, SDPI district general secretary Sahul Hameed S H said, "The general public, labourers, and farmers are facing inconvenience following the protest by the land surveyors in the district. The land surveyors are holding the protest boycotting office for the past two months and urging the government to make their jobs permanent and to pay their honorarium on time.
"The government should provide justice to land surveyors by making their jobs permanent especially of those staff who are working for the past two years and fulfill their demand. Instead of making jobs permanent of 2,000 land surveyors who are working for the past 17 years, it is heading to recruit 2,000 new land surveyors.
“In each taluk, there is a requirement of 20 land surveyors. But as of now, only 5 to 7 surveyors are working in the offices and others are working on temporary basis.
“Usually, in each taluk, in a day nearly 30 to 40 applications are being submitted, but due to the protest of land surveyors, several files are pending. This has caused inconvenience to the general public.
“The revenue department and the government should sort out the issue immediately. If not, in the coming days, the SDPI will hold a severe protest along with protesters and the general public in the district,” he said.
Anwar Sadath Bajathoor, Jamal Jokatte and Nasir Sajeepa were present.
