Mumbai, Apr 15: A female patient quarantined at a covid centre was sexually harassed by a medical coordinator. Sarfaraz Khan (28), a private doctor's assistant was arrested, the MIDC police said.

The 24-year-old woman lives in Panvel. Her husband and mother-in-law have both tested positive and are reportedly serious at a hospital. The incident occurred at a hotel converted into a care centre with an increase in infections in the state. She was quarantined since April 5. On April 11, she underwent a second Covid-19 test and the result was positive again.

Keen to get discharged, she called up Khan. On April 12, Khan visited her room on the pretext of having a discussion on getting her discharged and told her that she would have to give him something in return. When he demanded sexual favours, he was asked to immediately leave the room, a police officer said.

Not finding anyone on the floor, she informed the receptionist who dialled 100 and a police team took Khan into custody. Khan was booked under section 354 of IPC.
