Vijayapura, Apr 15: Local BJP MLA, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, revealed that he has an eye on bagging the post of the chief minister (CM). He said that if the high command so wants and gives him an opportunity to lead the party in the assembly election, he will make sure that the BJP wins not less than 150 seats.
With this, he laid bare his ambition to become the CM of Karnataka.
Speaking to media persons in the city on Wednesday April 14, Yatnal said that people from north Karnataka, and particularly from Vijayanagara district, are able to efficiently discharge duties in the post of the chief minister. Taking pot-shots at Yediyurappa, he asserted that he does not face allegations of land scams and corruption.
"If I am made the chief minister, I will provide governance like Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath. I will provide a corruption-free rule like him. I will run a government that will be a role model for others by staying away from minority appeasement and by ridding the state of goondaraj. I will work in such a way that it brings laurels to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi," he stressed.
Yatnal stated that he will give his predictions about the state politics on April 18 after the bypoll on April 17. "I was not invited to get involved with campaigning for the bypoll. Still, I have undertaken electioneering in Belagavi district. After my effort, the environment there has turned in favour of the BJP candidate. Leaders there have told me that our party candidate will come out successful," Yatnal stated.
