Mumbai, Aug 1: A special Tada judge on Friday directed the jailer of Taloja prison and assistant inspector Rajkumar Chapekar to file their replies on extradited gangster Abu Salem's allegation that he was threatened by Chapekar.
Salem had filed an application on Thursday, claiming that he was threatened on his way to JJ Hospital from Taloja jail. "The trouble started as soon as the van was about to reach the hospital," Salem said. "Chapekar directed his subordinates to handcuff me, but I refused as I am an undertrial," he added. Salem alleged that Chapekar sought bribe for himself and the rest of the escort staff. When he refused, Chapekar allegedly abused him. "Chapekar also threatened to shoot me," Salem said.
Special judge S T Mahajan asked Chapekar and the jailer to file a reply by August 23 and directed that Salem be provided treatment at the hospital inside Taloja jail.
