Udupi, Apr 12: G Jagadeesha, deputy commissioner (DC) of the district, said that the second wave of coronavirus is spreading fast in many cities of the state. If this continues, it will be difficult to control the infection in the coming days.
In the video message that was given to the public on Monday April 12, the DC said, "Coronavirus situation is not under control in our district. I request the public with folded hands not to neglect the coronavirus second wave infection.
"Do not attend any public programmes and huge gatherings. Maintain social distance everywhere and wear face masks. Follow Covid guidelines strictly.
"For some days do not organize any programmes. If there are elders in your house, please get them vaccinated. Vaccination will also reduce the intensity of Covid.
"Last year, we lost 192 senior citizens due to the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, we have faced shortage of beds and ventilators in the ICU. If we neglect the present situation, the earlier scenario will get repeated. Please see that senior citizens are safe at home,” he said.
