Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 11: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday April 11 saw another sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases, with the district reporting as many as 133 cases in a single day, while Udupi reported 92 new infections.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 6,62,364 samples have been tested so far, out of which 6,25,579 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 36,785, out of which 1,072 are currently active.
As many as 26 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 34,970.
The total number of deaths due to coronavirus in the district stands at 743.
With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected a whopping Rs 46,41,630 as fine in 44,668 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 4,45,125 samples have been tested so far.
As many as 92 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 25,972, out of which 371 are currently active.
A total of 68 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 25,409.
Out of 92 new patients, 74 are in home isolation while 18 are in Covid hospital.
Among the 92, as many as 77 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi taluk reported 38 of the 92 cases, Kundapur recorded 44, and Karkala 10.
Coronavirus has claimed 192 lives in the district so far.
Till now, 1,38,129 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 22,168 have received the second dose.
