PM Modi tells Karnataka to focus on micro containment zones

Bengaluru, Apr 11 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday advised Karnataka to focus on micro containment zones to check the virus spread in the state, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said.

"Spoke to the Prime Minister and apprised him of the measures taken to mitigate the second wave of pandemic in the state. He appreciated our government's efforts and suggested us to focus on micro containment zones to contain the spread of infection," Yediyurappa said in a tweet in Kannada.

Modi's phone call followed his meeting with Chief Ministers on April 8 on the pandemic's second wave sweeping across the country.

"The Prime Minister stressed upon enhancing testing and advised the state to focus on micro-containment zones, ensure ambulances, oxygen supply and ventilators," Yediyurappa said.

According to the state health bulletin, 6,955 new cases were reported on Saturday against 7,955 on Friday. Bengaluru registered 4,384 fresh cases and 19 of the 36 deaths in the state on Saturday.

As suggested, 'Vaccine Utsav' has been launched across the state to inoculate as many of the eligible citizens and protect them from the infection.

"Vaccine is the biggest weapon available to us in this battle against Covid-19. I urge all eligible citizens to get vaccinated and encourage others to get vaccinated. Let us continue to stay protected by wearing a face mask and follow social distancing," said Yediyurappa in another tweet.

On Saturday, 58,945 people in the 45-59 years age group and 43,179 people above 60 years were vaccinated across the state.

"Cumulatively, 56,26,481 people have received the jab since the vaccination drive was launched across the state," the bulletin said.

In the midst of a biggest economic recession where people are struggling to survive all these technical talks don't make any sense whatsoever; only thing is suicides will become inevitable after the loan moratorium gets over! BTW, with the fears of last year's lockdown many daily wagers are reported to be returning to their native places from metro cities!

Our master stroke PM can fool all of us without any efforts. Even with Virus he is playing a big game at the cost of human life. The recent BJP rally's are a proof. Today's high infection rate is the result of these rallies. The motto, get hold of all states so that he can rule it with iron hand. People are crazy and still run behind him.... see the state of India today, bankruptcy everywhere but stock market is doing remarkably well!! Time for tali bhajjao?

During your election rallies where lakhs and lakhs of people were gathered and were COVID super spreaders, there was absolutely no problems at all. All protocols broken, no masks, no social distancing. Oh no forgot Corona virus was scared at your and other political party rallies..... Now you are preaching others. You should have practiced before you preach. Ordinary poor public were and still are harassed, hit, fined and even arrested for not wearing masks but absolutely no action at the political rallies.

Politicians giving advise to common men is useless unless they follow themselves. There is no point in conducting online corona ki baat ; they say one thing and do the opposite......see the on going election campaigns... no corona. In business management the leader is the one who guides the team but in politics general public to guide the leader. Utter nonsense.

Its everyone responsibility to wear mask, social distance.... etc. If our central government worked honestly to control the pandemic situation must be better than what we are today.

Waaaa kya bath hai. Election rallies over, now Corona thought !!!!!. The present government is responsible for this increase in present Covid cases. let them agree/ anyway it is proved by teli media itself. Let the politicians give the count of crowd they pulled for each election rally/speeches, that too without social distancing, without wearing mask..... take care of citizens then think of other countrymen.

Containment zones and lockdown has not worked. The 3 "T" trace, test and treat have failed to control Covid ( I have not mentioned the fourth "T" -thaali banging), we hope the single "V" - Vaccination will help. Why is there a vaccine shortage in the country even during the "Tika Utsav". Why were vaccines exported before we Indians got it.Why vaccine manufacturers have not been paid to enhance capacity, manufacturing is a costly affair.Total mismanagement of the so called "Mahamari" (epidemic). Middle class has been pushed below poverty line. Wait until August to find the real NPAs of the banks when the moratorium ends. The virus itself has not caused extensive damage but the approach of the authorities has destroyed the economy.
