Mangaluru, Apr 11: In a tragic incident, a 13-year-old girl died after a shawl got entangled around her neck reportedly while dancing.
The deceased has been identified as Meghashree, daughter of Krishna Naik, a native of Edaneer, Kasargod. The incident happened at Kotekar in Ullal police station limits on Saturday April 10, but came to light with some delay.
Meghashree who was an eighth standard student at Cherkala Edaneer math school was staying in the house of her uncle since the last one month. It was her hobby to dance to songs. It is suspected that while dancing, her shawl got entangled around her neck, causing asphyxiation.

Ullal station police summoned the family members and her parents for questioning after suspicions arose about the cause of her death. However, during inquiry it was found that her room's door was locked from the inside and she was found dead when door was broken open.
However, sources said that Meghashree was unhappy about her dark complexion. There are suspicions that she may have died by suicide because of her disappointment in this regard.
A case in this connection has been registered in Ullal police station.
