Beltangady, Apr 10: Revenue minister R Ashok said that the government will prepare a draft within 15 days in order to make it possible for the people of Karnataka to do land conversion within a single day.
Ashok said, "At present people have to wait for one year to get their land converted. But changes will be made in system as well as in technology to make this possible within a day. This will resolve the issues in constructing houses and also will bring direct revenue to the state government."
Ashok was speaking at Santhekatte Sri Manjunatheshwara Kalabhavana, where he distributed 94C RTC to 78 beneficiaries.
"'Jilladhikari Nade Halli Kade' programme, which was implemented with the intention of reducing the distance between public and people, is a great success. Within a year, officials of revenue department will reach to people and all schemes of government will reach the public," said Ashok.
The minister further said, "Old age pension is being directly sent to the house of those who have attained the age of 60 years in order to avoid them running from pillar to post to get their pension every month. As first step around 30,000 people have got the benefit of this scheme."
Lauding the activeness of MLA Harish Poonja, minister Ashok said, "Poonja has brought the highest grant in the whole state to Beltangady and made lots of developmental works."
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Harish Poonja said, "Minister R Ashok is the person who has brought key differences in the working of revenue department in rural areas. In the past three years 3,600 people have got 94 C RTC. We have received 42,000 Akrama-Sakrama applications in the taluk. Out of this 80% is Kumki land. All the MLAs have exerted pressure on the revenue department in order to strengthen the agriculturists of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts. All efforts are being made to convert Kaniyoor into a Hobali."
MLA Harish Poonja felicitated the minister.
Ashok said, "Final decision will be taken soon after forming committee about the Kumki rights, which is the main obstacle of Malnad. Later confidence will be instilled in people that the land belongs to them and not the government. Through this revenue department will be people-friendly."
