Mangaluru: Customs seize gold worth Rs 30.73 lac from Dubai returnee

Mangaluru, Apr 9: A gold carrier was apprehended by the officers of Customs at Mangaluru International Airport in the evening hours of Thursday April 8.

A surveillance team led by deputy commissioner of Customs Avinash Kiran Rongali IRS profiled and intercepted a passenger by name Ibrahim Panalam Abdullah hailing from Alampady of Kasargod, Kerala. He had disembarked SpiceJet flight SG 146 coming from Dubai.

Ibrahim was trying to smuggle gold by concealing in an innerwear worn by him. Gold of net weight 647.000 grams valued at Rs 30.73 lac was seized.

Further investigation and proceedings in accordance with the law is under progress.

Crucial role of surveillance and interception was carried out by superintendents Sateesh and Shrikanth in the team.
