Mangaluru, Apr 9: It has transpired that the news about a security guard from Thokottu having won Kerala lottery first prize of one crore rupees was outright cooked up and false.

Kozhikode-based Moideen Kutty (65), who reportedly became rich overnight, has gone missing. It is said that Kutty had raised loans from a number of people. He had edited his lottery ticket at a cyber-centre, it is said. Kutty was serving as watchman of a commercial complex.

Kutty reportedly had bought the prize-winning ticket from Uppala. Media had widely covered the news of how Kutty had been in the habit of buying lottery tickets, and how he procured the said ticket by borrowing Rs 500 from a tailor and also that he had won a lottery amount of one crore rupees when working abroad in 1988.
