Mangaluru: Man from Kerala working as watchman in Thokottu wins Rs one crore lottery

Mangaluru, Apr 8: A resident of Calicut in Kerala, Moidin Kutty (65), employed as a watchman at Smart Planet complex at Thokottu junction since the last three years, has won Rs one crore prize in Kerala state Bhagyamithra lottery.

The ticket No. BJ 134048 bought by him at Uppala has won the prize. He is one among the five winners of a crore rupees prize each. He had borrowed Rs 500 from Omega tailor proprietor Ravi at complex where he works to buy the ticket from Uppala. Kutty has had the habit of buying lottery tickets since the last several decades.

Kutty, who was employed abroad, had won a crore from a Dubai based lottery in 1988. The amount according to Indian currency was Rs ten crore. Speaking in Malayalam he said that he bought land and constructed a house with the money. He did not say why he came to work in Mangaluru as a watchman. The people enquiring about him since he won the prize of Rs one crore has increased since the last two days. He has handed over the ticket to the ticket selling agency for submission to the department and now holding a photocopy of the ticket.
