Dubai, Apr 8: Kannadigas Federation and AIM India foundation were able to repatriate Changoor Prasad, resident of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, who was in dire straits, successfully with the cooperation of Indian Embassy in the city.

Giving details on the subject, Hidayat Addoor, convener of International Kannadigas Federation said, "Poor, illiterate labourer Changoor Prasad, who was deceived by his agent, was roaming in Dubai without food to eat. He got ill suddenly and was admitted to hospital. When the doctor checked him they came to know that he is suffering from brain tumour.

"After getting the information of hospitalization of Changoor Prasad, Sheikh Muzaffar of AIM India foundation met him at the hospital and instilled confidence in him and contacted me. We provided primary health care to Prasad at the Qasmia hospital in Sharjah and got him discharged as per doctors’ advice. Though we got some discount through insurance we paid his expenses of Rs one lac. Later we contacted his family members and got his brother-in-law to arrive in Dubai as Prasad needed someone to accompany him back to India.

"As Prasad had lost his passport even before getting admitted to the hospital, he needed a White Passport Emergency Certificate to travel back to India. Till this certificate was made, Prasad needed a good environment to reside. Praveen Shetty, chairman of Fortune Group of Hotels and president of KNRI UAE, immediately responded and took total responsibility for the food and accommodation of Prasad in his hotel for 12 days.

"When we faced issues while making emergency certificates for Prasad, Jeethendra Singh Negi, counsel at Indian Embassy office in Dubai took the initiative and helped us. Social worker Girish Pant cooperated in the effort. Muzaffar and Imran Ermal handled work related to police reports and immigration.

"From the day Prasad was discharged from hospital till Prasad reached his native place of Gorakhpur, our team spent around Rs 2.5 lac for the costly medicine and also his travel expenses. Finally we were successful and Prasad reached his family at Gorakhpur.

"There is slight improvement in the health condition of Changoor Prasad, who has lost all hope of returning back to India after losing his passport, in addition to having ill health. He has sent a smiling photo with his wife and children from his native place of Gorakhpur. We are also in touch with the hospital in Uttar Pradesh for his further treatment,” he said.
