Bengaluru, Apr 8: State Collegiate Education commissioner, Pradeep gave the green signal for dispatch of the first batch of 12,500 debonded computers to all degree, engineering and technical colleges in the state under the state government’s 'Help Educate' programme to help the technical college students.

The commissioner gave the green signal for the dispatch of the computers for distribution to engineering, degree and technical colleges in the Bengaluru zone from the Collegiate Education office on Seshadri Road in the city on Thursday.

The first batch of 12,500 debonded computers has been donated by the Cognizant Company. The necessary software for the debonded computers is being updated by the Rotary Club of Bengaluru.

Pradeep said all the government degree, engineering and technical colleges in the state need 30,000 computers. The Cognizant Company offered to donate another 8,000 debonded companies in addition to the 12,500 already donated. The remaining computers will be obtained from other companies.

The State Collegiate Education commissioner appealed to other IT companies to come forward to join hands with the government in its Help Educate programme.

Rotary Club governor Nagendra Prasad, Cognizant Company director (CSR) Deepak Prabhu and vice-president Hari Singh were present during the dispatch of the first batch of computers.
