Mangaluru: KSRTC employees' stir - DC asks officials to facilitate commuters

Mangaluru, Apr 8: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Rajendra K V, instructed the officials concerned to make alternative arrangements for the convenience of the people in order to ensure that the people do not face hardships because of indefinite strike call given by the employees of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

Speaking after presiding over a meeting held at his office auditorium on Wednesday April 7, he asked police, transport department officials and KSRTC representatives to make sure that the people are not inconvenienced in moving around, by making suitable alternative vehicle arrangements. He said that any passenger maxi cabs, private buses etc which have registration and insurance and which are fit for transport and if the driver possesses driving licence, they can be pressed into service either with temporary permit or otherwise, as per the needs of the people.

He also instructed the deputy director of public instruction to pool information about students travelling to schools and colleges in the district and provide the same to his office.

District superintendent of police Rishikesh, city corporation commissioner Akshy Sridhar, regional transport officer Varnekar, and office bearers of private bus owners’ union, maxi cab owners association etc were present.
