Beltangady, Apr 8: A youth who was in love with a girl, urged her to desert her family and elope with him. As she refused to flee with him, the youth got angry, entered the house of the girl, and stabbed her with a knife.
This incident happened on the night of 'Tuesday April 6 near Layila.
A lady aged 21 belonging to Layila village suffered stab injuries inflicted by a youth belonging to her community. The accused happens to be Shamir (22), resident of Punjalkatte.
Shamir reportedly was in love with the girl for the last five years. He wanted to marry her and had been pressurizing her to leave her family and marry him. As the girl steadfastly refused to follow his advice, the lover who got angry, entered the house of the girl at around 10.20 pm on Tuesday and stabbed her. The girl was injured in her left hand, right hand, and neck. The family members immediately caught hold of him and handed him over to the police.
The injured lady is being treated in the government hospital at Beltangady. The police here have registered case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
