Mangaluru, Apr 7: Regarding the incident of theft at the office and room of parish priest of Bendore church that occurred on April 5, the face of the culprit has been captured in the CCTV footage.
In the complaint that is filed with the Kadri police station, it is alleged that an amount of Rs 4,98,605 that was kept in the drawer of the table and a gold chain weighing 12 grams, worth Rs 50,000 are stolen.
A source from the church said, “The person who has indulged in the act had come even the previous day and had been watching the activities at the office. The parish priest had unfortunately not locked the door on the morning of the incident, but he had locked the locker which had the keys of the other cupboard. The culprit had entered the office and broke open the locker, taken the keys out and then used them to open the cupboard to steal the cash collected from the offertory and the parish priest’s gold chain which his mother had given him on his ordination.”

According to the information available, a person wearing a face mask stole the cash and gold chain while the parish priest had gone to church for prayer service.
The act is captured on CCTV. Further investigation is on.
